Antique Metal Cup

This Ottoman-era glass has a forged brass body, a height of 9 cm, a mouth width of 6-7 cm, and a weight of approximately 250-300 grams. The hand-carved floral and geometric motifs on its surface are all from the Ottoman period. The handle is screwed on from the top using traditional techniques, leaving the bottom free to enhance the glass’s aesthetic appeal. This late-19th-century glass was used as a daily drinking vessel or for entertaining guests, serving beverages such as sherbet, ayran, and water. In some regions, it was also used for religious and ceremonial purposes. The slight tarnish and patina on the glass are positive indicators of its antique value and demonstrate its authenticity. Because it reflects Ottoman/Anatolian culinary culture, it possesses both ethnographic and decorative value.
